Promise Tracker
KC Tenants in Action ran a five month campaign to make housing the key issue in the 2019 municipal election, with our people and our platform at the center. We succeeded.
We wrote a People’s Housing Platform, issued a questionnaire to candidates, attended nearly every candidate forum, held our own City Council forum and two Mayoral house meetings, and released a primary and general election voter guide.
During the election, candidates promised to take action and fight for tenants. Many of those candidates were elected, and we haven’t forgotten their promises. We are dedicated to tracking their promises and making them accessible to our people.
Here is the KC Tenants Promise tracker: bit.ly/PromiseTracker. We will update it weekly or more regularly, as needed.
TENANT BILL OF RIGHTS
We have begun drafting a tenant bill of rights, informed by our experience. This will be one of our first strategic campaigns.
